THE spokesperson of the Onethindi-based Ondonga Traditional Authority, Kashona Maluku has dismissed as “idle talk” the latest reports that the Ondonga royal clan has met and elected a new king whose identity will allegedly be revealed on Sunday.
When approached for comment, Maluku said: “Just ignore such talk. Making announcements at this time of mourning is a blatant contravention of our customary norms. According to our tradition, no announcements are made before the late king is laid to rest. That is why we are silent. Not that we have nothing to say. We are silent because we respect our ages-old tradition.”
Rumours that as successor for the late King Immanuel Kauluma Elifas, who died 26 March aged 86, was elected started doing the rounds on Friday
The late king was laid to rest at Olukonda earlier on Saturday.
