NEDBANK launched the 2019 edition of Citi Dash earlier this week and the event is set to coincide with the World International Olympic Day on 23 June.
Close to 2000 marathon runners will take part.
During the launch, JG van Graan, Nedbank CFO, said that the competition has become popular around the world, with international runners taking part in previous editions.
He said that the Citi Dash will have the 5km and 10km fun run and for the main event, it will host the 10km Citi dash elite run where N$40 000 will be up for grabs for the best Elite male and Elite female categories, under 18 – male and – female runners and top visually impaired and wheelchair athletes.
“The Nedbank Citi Dash presents a great opportunity to get everyone involved from every sector of our community. We, therefore, challenge corporates and schools to enter teams, and individuals to take up the challenge and participate in the event,” he said.
Renowned Comrade Coach Lindsey Parry will host a 12 weeks training program for Elite athletes and Nedbank has promised to award the first 25 entrees free participation in the program.
Lindsey has coached both triathletes and runners onto podiums of some of the world’s most illustrious races.
Entries open via online from the 1 April until 21 June, with manual registration still continuing until the Saturday morning of the event with a late registration fee in place.
