Mathias promises big win

MTC Salute Boxing Academy’s first boxing tourney will make its way for the first time ever to the Kavango East region as IBO international current title holder, Jonas Mathias, is set to clash against Tanzanian’s Nasibu Ramadhan at the Rundu Trade Fair.

The tournament, set for 30 March, will be the main bout going up to 12 rounds as Mathias is set to defend his IBO International Bantamweight title against Ramadhan, who has previously fought against the likes of Paulus Ambunda.

Mathias has a record of 15 fights, 10 wins, three losses and two draws under his name, while his opponent has 40 fights with 22 wins, 12 losses and two draws.

Salute Boxing Academy spokesperson, Petrus Johannes, said that the champion is in the best shape of his life and ready for the match.

“He is in the best shape ever. He promised a win, saying he will never allow anybody to take his title from him. He is fully aware that his opponent is not a walk in a park but his is the champion and he will make Rundu and whole country proud,” he said.

Johannes encouraged fans to come in numbers and watch the match.

Other fights to take place are Lazarus Shaningwa versus David Shinuna for the Super Welterweight national title and Nathanael Kakololo against Robert Kachiza.

Tickets will cost N$130 and N$100 in advance, while VIP seats goes for N$250 in advance and N$300 at the door.
