Signed a 6 month contract with Lusaka Dynamos

NAMIBIA’S prolific footballer Petrus Shitembi has settled well into the Zambian super league after penning down a six-month contract to play for Lusaka Dynamos in the competitive league, which Is considered to be one of the best in Southern Africa.

Hailing from the town of Rundu, the star, who is also a regular starter in the Brave Warriors squad, said that the management and teammates have helped him greatly in getting acquainted with the league.

“I am settling in pretty well. The league is quite competitive so it can only help one mature. The management and players have been very kind and welcoming I must say, so everything is pretty good,” he told Informanté.

The 27-year-old, who is believed to have received many offers from clubs in South Africa and beyond, said that his choice to play in Zambia was personal.

“There were quite a few factors to consider and after some deliberation, I jump onto this one. It’s merely personal factors,” he said.

When asked about Namibia’s chance of qualifying for 2019 AFCON as they are set to take on Zambia next month, Shitembi said it will be an opportunity for the country to make history by qualifying for the third time.

“The chance is there and I think everyone knows that. The biggest thing here would be our preparation and motivation going into the game. We are all really looking forward to that. I mean it’s a very historic feat to qualify and hopefully appear in the Nations Cup,’’ Shitembi stated.

He added that he relishes in the chance to score a debut goal after playing two games for the team.

Namibia is set to clash against Zambia in Lusaka next month for the last AFCON qualifier game.
