Brick used to kill woman

A 41-year-old man who killed a woman in the Uukwalumbe village by bludgeoning her to death with a brick was arrested after residents of the Oshuukwa village some distance away from the murder scene pointed out his hiding place to members of the Namibian Police.
According to Inspector Linekela Shikongo, spokesperson of the Namibian Police in the Omusati Region, the horrific murder occurred at about 02:00 on Tuesday at a homestead in the Okakwa location of the Uukwalumbe village in the area of Okahao.
“It is alleged that the suspect used a super brick to smash in the woman’s head. He hit the victim several times on the head with the brick and she died on the spot of the brutal attack,” Shikongo said.
Upon further investigation into the brutal murder investigators established that the suspect also set two huts, normally used by the victim, on fire shortly after he committed the murder. The one hut was victim’s sleeping room where she and her two daughters, one three years of age and the other a three month old baby, normally slept together. The second hut was used as a Cuca shop. Both huts and all its contents were completely destroyed by the fire.
“The suspect and the victim were involved in a relationship and she sent her children away for the night to be cared for by other residents of the village because the man was sometimes very abusive when he visited her. Luckily at the time of the brutal attack, the children were safe with other people.”
Inspector Shikongo said the suspect fled the scene shortly after he murdered the woman and set fire to the huts. He was arrested about two hours later the Oshuukwa village where he attempted to hide from the police.
“The murder victim’s age and residential address is unknown and she is yet to be identified. Both the suspect and the victim are Angolan nationals.”
Inspector Shikongo said the motive for the vicious murder is also still unknown, but stated that the suspect is expected to appear in Okahao Magistrate Court later this week. He said the body of the deceased woman was taken to the Okahao police mortuary for a postmortem examination to be performed.
