Currently bottom of the NPL, Orlando Pirates woes sunk deeper after the team succumbed to a 4-0 thrashing against currently table toppers, Black Africa over the weekend.
The classic Dolam Derby which was played over the weekend at the Sam Nujoma stadium on Saturday, saw Pirates’ fans disappointed by their team’s performance as the team currently sits at the bottom of the log with five points, four loses and one draw in their last five games.
Black Africa is the current leaders in the league with 23 points, registering seven wins, two draws and only one loss so far.
African Stars regimented their campaign as current NPL champions by beating Young Brazilians 2-1, while Tigers lost by 1-0 against newly promoted Life Fighters over the weekend.
Pirates faced a major task against Black Africa in their hope of reviving their campaign after losing six matches in the season so far.
During a press conference last week, Pirates’ head coach, Geoffrey Roman, said that despite his team’s bad form of late, the players are ready and prepared for the biggest derby game in the history of Katutura.
“We are going to face arguably the best team in the league, so we are going to follow our game plan and try to get points out of it,” he said.
Black Africa’s coach, Paulus Shipanga, said that his team will be prepared for the battle against Pirates knowing full well that the opponents will want nothing other than three log points.
