The traditional leader of the Topnaar People and Chairperson of the Nama Traditional Authorities Association, Kaptein Seth Kooitjie, died at his home in Narraville early on Friday morning.
His daughter in law, Levon Kooitjie, confirmed the death of the man that served as the Topnaar traditional leader for the past 21 years. She said died as a result of a severe asthma attack.
“We all went to a restaurant in Walvis Bay and on the way back home he started feeling uncomfortable. The attack got worse after he got home and we called for an ambulance but it was too late.”
Levon said funeral arrangements are still to be finalised.
She said the late Topnaar Kaptein is survived by his wife, his four children and four grandchildren.
