Friends and family of the 19-year-old Dexter Opeipawa Netha are still looking for him after he mysteriously disappeared from among thousands of young people attending the Sound of Summer party at Long Beach on Friday evening.
According to Warrant Officer Ileni Shapumba, Commander of Community Affairs in the Erongo Region, Dexter was last seen at the party with friends. Dexter is described as dark in complexion and about 1, 7 meter tall. He was wearing a white T-shirt and dark blue denim with black and white sneakers.
“The missing person is a student at IUM in Windhoek and he allegedly travelled with a friend from Windhoek. They arrived in Swakopmund earlier n Friday and at about 16:00 the two drove to Long Beach. The missing person entered the event but his friend couldn’t enter because he did not have enough money to pay for the entrance. The friend allegedly returned to Swakopmund.”
According to the Warrant Officer Shapumba the friend who has not yet been identified by the Police in the Erongo Region, told the police that Dexter called him and asked him to pick him up at about 23:00 from another person’s phone because his own mobile phone was not working properly.
“When the friend arrived at Long Beach, the owner of the cell phone from which the call was made, told him that Dexter walked away from them and they didn’t know where he went. That was the last time he was seen.”
According to Warrant Officer Shapumba the missing person has still not returned to the house where he was supposed to sleep in Mondesa over the past weekend.
Warrant Officer Shapumba requested any person with information regarding the whereabouts of Dexter or the missing person himself to kindly contact Deputy Commissioner Iikuyu at 081 246 4757 or Detective Sergeant Gariseb at 081 203 1808 or Dexter’s mother Victoria at 081 656 8099 or to give such information at the nearest Police Station.
